A firetruck just left me house. I locked the baby in the car this morning.
I put baby in car, got in the drivers seat, turned on the car and baby spilled his cheerios. He was saying "uh oh," "uh oh". "Mommy will pick them up baby, its okay." I get out of the car to go pick up cheerios and my elbow hit the lock button as I was climbing out. The door closes.
I freaked out a little, tears started running, but mainly went straight into action knowing it would take a while for anyone to get there to help us. I first called a locksmith. They said it would take them too long to get there and I should call 911. One 911 call later a firetruck was at our house in 5 mintues.
I mean you can't make this stuff up. It was a scene straight out of a trashy romance novel. Three HOT fireman all suited up come walking down the driveway, unlock the car, and hand me my rescued baby. Thank you gentlemen, can I offer you a beverage? Haha, just kidding...I didn't offer them a beverage. But they were cute, and they did resuce my baby and I am SO grateful it was fairly quickly.
Baby was pretty upset he didn't understand why he was in the car and all these people were around the car without coming into the car with him. It was scary I'm sure. He's okay though, Mommy's okay, and now we have a story to tell. I'd rather NOT have this story to tell. But it is what it is and lessons learned. (keep a spare key in the house)
The Fireman started playing with Jake (our golden retriever) on their way out...Jake was sad to see them go and DESPERATELY wanted to spend the day with them. They said "come on boy," and wished Jake would be thier fire dog.
Of course hubby is happy because this didn't end up costing him anything. Our tax dollars hard at work. Thanks Fireman! Can I offer you a beverage? ;)
Oh...I have to add. Baby had asked for raisins that morning but I gave him cheerios instead. My child is OBSESSED with raisins asking for them all the time but I'm afraid of all the sugar in them and that his teeth are going to rot out from them. Needless to say, after our little tragedy...baby got him some raisins :) sweet boy!

DIY: Magnolia Wreath
Magnolia trees are a dime a dozen around here in Charlotte. We don't have one in our yard...but our neighbors do ;) SHHHH, don't tell, but I snuck over there and borrowed (ok stole) some leaves off their three to make us an oh so pretty Magnolia Wreath.
Here's what I used...a wire wreath template and green floral wire both from Michaels.

and some leaves of course...

There are some turtorials online that use foam wreaths and I might try that next time in order to make the wreath fluffier looking but what I used did the trick too...

And just start outside in tieing leafs on the wire template. I must say this was more time consuming that i would have liked, a few hours all combined.
But I'd say the end product was well worth it!
Jakey wanted to help but I wouldnt let him...so he gave me his best "puppy dog face"
HEY! Write it down, record the date, I did a post that wasn't about the baby :)
Merry Christmas!

hodgepodge
Life is ALWAYS busy with not much going on if that makes sense :)
Last week was teacher appreciation week at Hunter's school so Tuesday night I made Glazed Donut Muffins for the teachers, a recipe I found on Pinterest. They were extremely easy to make and looked pretty. A different type of treat I was reluctant to give away, wanting to keep them for ourselves :) Maybe I'll make them again this week!
Last weekend we headed to my parents house in Northern VA. My brother, sister-in-law and niece Riley were there visiting from NY! We take every opportunity to get up to NoVA when they are there considering it allows us to see them in a 6hr drive as oppose to 12! Our parents home is a nice mid-way meeting point. The cousins exchanged easter presents, the boys golfed, while the girls shopped, and saturday night my parents watched the grandkids while myself, Hunter, Joe and Jenny hit up a bar called spanky shenanigans. There was some spanky shenanigans going on in there all right but we had lots of fun singing along to the dualing pianos!
Other things keeping us busy...Planning of a girlfriends bachelorette, dinners with friends, weekend visits to Big Daddy's (HL3), job interviewing (another stress of last week that I pretty much just dont want to get into, the day job (naturally), keeping up with household chores...the usual. ya know.
AND Baby's first easter this weekend. We've got our decor up!
No much planned but I'll still pumped to dress HLV in a sweet outfit adorned with an easter bunny, give him an easter basket and take WAY to many adorable pictures. Oh, and we'll go to church and worship the big man upstairs because well it just feels good :)
GAH speaking of which....we still need to get Hunter baptised. On the 2 DO list!!! Speaking of 2 do lists, this is on the list for sometime before this weekend. Making HL5's easter basket liner. Have the goods just need the time. Going to follow this tutorial. Really hoping it turns out!
Baby boy turns 5 months this week! Stay tuned for the monthly post!
Oh, and my sister in law is having a link party today (she has one every wednesday). Go to her blog and link up your favorite recipes, crafts, organizing tips, or fashion advice. Anything goes and its a great way to get some cool ideas from other people's blogs!

A boy and his dog
Lots of people ask "How's Jake with the new baby"....
At first he seemed sad to me. Laid around more than usual giving us heart melting puppy dog eyes. I mean I couldnt blame him, he went from being walked twice a day, when I was trying to induce labor, to nada cold turkey! Although, I could have been mistaking those sad puppy dog eyes for extremely tired eyes. He wasn't used to being up all night either. In fact, on night two I called him up to bed, he raised his heavy head from the couch and gave me a look that said "are you crazy...I'm not going up there tonight, you people don't sleep."

As the days moved forward Jake recovered and became more excepting that Hunter was here to stay and became more interested in him. He'll give him some sniffs, a few licks to his little baby feet, and even come in and sleep at the foot of his nursery chair as we are doing a middle of the night feed.

Overall, Jake is still getting his. :) his rubs, his walks, his ball throwing, food and water. Perhaps a little less frequently but he needs to be patient because we are working on raising him the ultimate ball throwing machine! :)

Jake's BFF
We are extremely lucky in the fact that we have several friends with dogs and we all rotate watching eachothers when someone's out of town. Last week we had our friends Melody and Jasons black lab, Carter. He and Jake are no joke BFFs!!! It's AMAZING watching them wrestle and play. They have so much instinct and trust between one another and you can tell by the pictures below. They'll go right for the neck but won't bite down and they have their calm bonding moments too. I just can't get enough of these sweet pups!!! :)

Jumping Jack Jake
Seem's like the only thing keeping me occupied these days is our dog Jake. Could be worse things I suppose :) We certainly aren't the "no ball throwing in the house" kind of family....exact opposite actually. We throw it from the living room to the office and Jake anxiously waits for it from behind the couch! We have THE cutest dog in the world :)

SNOOOOOOOOOWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a winter wonderland in Charlotte this morning we woke up to tons of SNOW!!!!! Jake and I hopped right out of bed and ran to go play in it!! I must say if i torture my dog this much with pictures I pitty my children. We had fun though and its crazy how something I grew up with my whole life just makes me giddy when we get it here, since it isn't too often. Not to mention, I'll get to leave work early today, and possibly not even go in tomorrow so that all helps in the excitement too :) hmmmm, sounds familiar from my school days...guess some things never change. Enjoy our playing in the snow pics!

Being bribed with his ball to pose, but of course he'd rather be playing so he's mad and refusing to give me a smile!
And this is we brush off cars in the south...with brooms! :)
Happy Monday everyone, hope you have a great week!
