Decluttering in the month of March

I'm sure by now you have noticed the button to the right on my blog that says I'm Decluttering, wanna join? It's part of Project Simplify on a blog I follow, Simple Mom. For each week in the Month of March it gives you an area of your house to declutter.

•Week of March 5: Kids’ stuff—toys, clothes, and the like
•Week of March 12: Kitchen and/or pantry
•Week of March 19: Closets, countertops, and drawers (oh my)
•Week of March 26: Choose your own adventure—you pick your most-needed hot spot

This week is kids stuff, perfect timing being that HL5's clothes we're overflowing with newborn and 3 month sizes he no longer fits in. I needed to clean out all the stuff he has outgrown and box it up for the next kid. Check out my before and afters from this past weekend, and declutter with me!


Hunter has this rattan trunk in his room that I had intentions of using as a toy box for him. However, as he started to out grow clothes I just started piling them into his trunk. THIS is what it looked like. ha! I sorted and repackaged into vacuum seal bags and boxed up his old playtex nurser bottles and soothie pacifiers...he uses the advent ones now!


Now where to put these bags and box? Is it wrong that I want to lower his crib already so that I can start storing things under it without people seeing. ha! :) Baby you got your toy box back though!

For anyone out there in the market of a dresser/changing table or even just drawer organizers I highly recommend what we went with. Our dresser is from Ikea and I LOVE how big and deep the drawers are. The top drawer dividers are also from Ikea 7.99 a pack you can't beat that! They have worked great for keeping his socks, onesies, and even medicines that I keep in the top drawer separated. Everything has its own bin. The second drawer is divided by using these. A bit pricey but again well worth it. It took one HUGE deep drawer and allowed me to section it off into 5 different rows. I did PJs, Larger size PJS, Pants, shorts, sweatshirts/sweaters. The bottom drawer is big enough to fit ALL his extra sheets, mattress pads, blankets, swaddles, towels etc. His own little linen drawer :)

And lastly, just a pic of two of my favorite things in Hunters room. His book shelf and this frame he got from good friends of ours. The saying worked perfectly for one of his newborn pics :)



Next week is Kitchen/Pantry another area we are busting at the seems in. And again good timing since HL5 is about to start food so I want to give him a section in our pantry for baby food. :)

Saturday morning we had the carpets cleaned then Hunter installed carseats in our cars...



then he hung some wall decor above the changing table :)




As you can see the glider STILL hasn't arrived!! Have I mentioned how much I HATE USA baby? And my mama taught me that HATE is a strong word. I hate them!





Today's been a lazy day but I've managed to sew some diaper clothes


and catch up on my baby reading...


Jake got in a little ball throwing and has no idea this is his last few weeks as an only child...or maybe he does?


Lastly our house smells wonderful of yummy White Chicken Chili.



Oh and for Mom, here's the wreath I made I was telling you about. Happy fall ya'll!

Nursery Progress...

Here's some pictures of the progress we got done on the nursery this past weekend. At 26 weeks I feel really good about what we've gotten done and have left to do!

Both Hunter and I LOVE how the wall color turned out. The chair, that will go kiddie cornered between the windows, is on order and we plan to hit up Ikea for the dresser/changing table this weekend.

Pretty sure I walk in the room about every night and just look around :)

Hunter 5's Nursery

Here's a little picture board I made of some items you might find in Hunter 5's Nursery. As of right now it's an empty tan colored room. We have designated saturday to get the room painted and maybe even the crib put together. Afterwards, on Sunday, you can find me at the spa getting a much needed prenantal massage.



The background color on the picture is the paint color we are going with. Vaspar Laura Ashley paint from Lowes called Navy 1.
(which I find ironic being that it's not navy at all but we are having a lot of navy in his room) must be meant to be :)

The bedding that looks fuzzy is Jackson Whales from potterybarn kids, paired with mini polkadot navy crib sheet, and Harper stripe navy crib skirt. Added bonus...it's all organic!!

The little Trevor sign above the crib is something I ordered off etsy. The one I ordered is customized with a V in the center representing roman numeral five and says Hunter at the bottom. Get it? Hunter V :)

The shelf, mirror, and burlap storage boxes are from Restoration Hardware baby and child.

The saftey pins I thought would look cute hanging above the changing table. They are from ballard designs.

The dresser we are going to use as a changing table at first and it is Ikea's Hemnes,

Baby girls nursery....what would have been

If baby boy inside of me was a baby girl this is what I had planned for her nursery :)



1. Elinor Pink Graham and Brown wallpaper. This no doubt would steal the show and I could keep all else fairly simple.

2. A fancy monogrammed pillow. I've had this image for so long I have no idea where I originally found it.

3. RHbabyandchild frayed ruffle & vintage stripe bedding.

4. Ikea Hemnes nightstand

5. A neutral window panel these are from PBkids.

6. An equally neutral yet still beautiful nursery chair. Was thinking linen and loving these from RH babyandchild until the reality of cost set in.
I must add we ended up getting a tan linen chair from USA baby for HL5 and I love it just as much for more than half the cost. We went with the little castle Valentino glider in Riviera linen! Total cost $460! A steal I thought for a high quality glider!

7. Ikea Hemnes dresser - We are still going with this for Hunter's nursery although after measuring realized the double dresser won't fit so we'll be going with the 3 drawer chest. 100 dollar savings, love our small nursery! :)


8. And lastly the Kendall PB crib. This would have been Hunterette's and now is Hunters. We were going with this crib either way. In my opinion you can't beat the price tag on this puppy for a high quality PBkids crib!

Awww saying bye bye to the inspiration board of sweeet Hunterette's nursery. I do love it but love my growing little boy more! :)

Elephants or Whales?

This post might be a little premature considering we don't even know if we are having a boy or girl yet. But I keep looking at boy stuff because it's where I'm the most indecisive. If it's a girl I'm fairly certain I know what I will do for her room. Anyways, while in Potterybarn Kids, the other day, looking at the cribs, Hunter pointed out his adoration for this Whale quilt. Then, I showed him this elephant quilt I had my eyes on. He agreed the elephants were cute but stood his ground in liking the whales better.

Now, I should point out that I know I don't want a nursery full of animals so the quilt (and maybe sheet) will be the only piece we will purchase with animals on it. I thought of doing a striped, solid or polka dotted bumper, sheet and crib skirt along with the animal printed quilt.

Now here comes the fun part...

Did you know on Potterybarn Kids website you can build your own crib? Well you can, right here!

You pick out your crib, then add your quilt, bumper, sheet and crib skirt. You can mix and match every pattern they have and it adds it to your crib where you can see what it will look like together. You can even change the wall color. Genius and EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Here's some different combinations I put together with the quilts we like. The white crib in the pictures is the exact crib, boy or girl, my generous parents are purchasing for us!

All of the images have the light blue pique crib skirt and bumper which I think I'm sold on.
