Scenes from the weekend...

It was a very productive weekend in the Lunsford household but we started it out friday night eating outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. 

I totally remember doing this as a kid in the summer time. Squirting water gun water into my mouth. Hunter was doing it to James and they both thought it was hilarious. 

Can we say trouble ;)

So much fun!

Hunter and his dad worked really hard all weekend long.  Replacing exterior lighting, cleaning the exterior lights, cleaning all of our white columns and exterior windows sills, scrubbing the brick patios, and planting new shrubs where old ones had died.  

 I looove hydrangeas and excited to have some in the front of the house now.  Hoping the sun light is good to them and they should grow a bit bigger. 

 The new boxwoods in the front of the porch will eventually grow together and form one rectangular hedge.  And now its time for me to get my flower pots planted! Thinking of getting some new aqua colored ceramic ones this year....

The guys brought a tv out to the garage so they could watch the masters on and off while working.  Hunter V thought it was the coolest thing being able to eat lunch outside and watch a cartoon.  (don't mind all the "junk" ... we're preparing for a garage sale this Saturday... come on by!)

The men made sure to finish up their work just in time to watch the Masters sunday afternoon. We pulled the tv out to the back deck it was way to nice to go inside!

Big Daddy got in a some good tickle time before he had to leave...the boys just adore him

Annnnd...as if we hadn't accomplished enough, after Big Daddy left and the boys we're down we headed to the basement to rip up some carpet (full basement post coming soon)

Life isn't slowing down anytime soon! Garage sale, visiting grandparents, hiring contractors, jobs, babies, family moving down,  dr appointments, parent/teacher conferences, school pictures, car inspection, plant flower pots, and now I need to stop writing my to-do list on here and go write it in my planner.  bye bye for now...hope you all have a great week! xo

Table Styling

I don't know about ya'll but I get complete anxiety over table styling and it's just too much for my OCD to handle.  If I can get a table just the way I like it, I'll keep it that way forever but if one thing seems off to me I'll be adding, taking away, changing until eternity. This year putting away Christmas decor and getting everyday decor back out kicked my table styling OCD into high gear.  I googled coffee table styling for some inspiration and found The Everygirl's Blog to be very helpful.

Here's some table styling around our home that I think I'm fairly satisfied with.  For now anyways.... and my apologies in advance...I'm labeling where I got things but most stuff is older so not available anymore.

Kitchen Table: These I feel like need to be on a tray but I can't find a tray big enough and if I put them on a tray then I need bigger side hurricanes cause the balls look too big compared to the side candles.   Get your heads out of the gutters folks and sympathize with me on this dilemma ;)

O' Christmas tree...traditions

The personalization and tradition of Christmas trees is what makes them so special. We typically go pick ours out the day after thanksgiving, set it up and then decorate it the next weekend.  I'm sure as the kids get older and become less needy we'll find the time to decorate it the same weekend :)

I'm getting off track.... One of our traditions is putting candy canes on the tree.  I said to my mom a few weekends ago, I remember every year putting candy canes on our tree growing up.  My mom's response was that's because she did it when she was little.  Her family couldn't afford ornaments so her mom would always buy a couple boxes of candy canes and they would decorate with those.  We may be able to afford ornaments now but I love sticking to the tradition and every year when we place the candy canes on the tree I think back to my mom and I's child hood where money or not there was lots of love and thats all that mattered.

Our second tradition is every year we receive a Crayola ornament from my Meme.  My Papa used to work for Crayola so they started this back in early 2000's.  I'll be honest when was in college or just out of college and receiving them, I liked them but never looked at them as sentimental items.  The years have gone by, Papa has since passed,  and the kids LOVE them so they have taken on a new special meaning.   Hunter V puts on all of the Crayola ornaments admiring each one before he places it on the tree, and if bunches them all together into the same spot, ya know what, that's okay with me!
