Family and Football: A fun three day weekend!

Whew – Does it feel like Monday to anyone else besides me?  Us "bankers" in the Lunsford house had a three day weekend thanks to Martin Luther King Jr.    We jam packed our weekend with a lot of fun and a little bit of rest.

We started our Saturday with playdates and The Little gym.  Then home for naps while I worked on the laundry and prepped some appetizers to enjoy during the Panthers game on Sunday.   I’ve been taking his greek dip EVERYWHERE we go lately.  It’s literally the easiest thing ever, all you have to do is chop and layer.

  Tub of traditional humus

    Tub of Tatziki

   Cucumber, Tomato, and Green Onions

Mediterranean Feta, and Black olives (I only put black olives on half since I feel like a lot of people don't like olives)

I also put together some anti-pasta skewers.  I got the idea from snoopnattynat when she posted this on her instagram.   They also ended being delicious and a hit.  I’m going to have to remember these for our xmas party next year.   It’s not shown in the picture but right before I served them I drizzled deli oil over them.

Saturday night Grami came to babysit and Hunter and I snuck away for a date night with my brother and sister-in-law.   Some noshing, followed by a nice dinner, made complete with a bucket of "juice" from Howl at the Moon (which i hadn't been to in like 10 years).

Sunday we were up and at em again and headed to Big Daddy’s (my father in laws) house BUT...Not before watching our first snow fall.  Hunter V has been DYING to see snow so he was super excited.  And well..monkey see, monkey do so James Penn was equally excited as his big brother.  They sat here at my bathroom window and watched it for a good 15 minutes while I got ready.  So sweet!

Big Daddy lives on Lake Norman so we enjoyed a cozy day, with family, friends, football and a great view!

The cousins on Hunter's side.  Aren't they cute!

We stayed the night and headed home first thing Monday and after two big nights for us old folks Monday we spent relaxing and getting ready for the week!

Only three more work days and its another weekend!!!  Woohoo!

Scenes from the weekend...

Happy Monday!

Our goal this past weekend was to finish up christmas decorating and I can proudly say...yeah, that didn't happen. ha!  I feel like everyone else knocks out Christmas decorating in one weekend and for us that just never seems possible.  We say its cause of the kids, but I know other families that have kids and it doesn't take them three weekends to put up christmas decor.  Oh well...such as life, we still had a great weekend first and foremost celebrating sweet Henry's 1st Birthday!!!  His mommy, my bestie Lindsey out did herself a photo booth, kids make their own ornaments, a hot cocoa bar, delish sweets, catered dinner, and even a visit from no one other than SANTA!!  Everything was beautifully decorated and if we weren't in the Christmas state of mind yet we sure are now after leaving Henry's Winter Wonderland 1st Birthday Celebration.  Stay tuned to Lindsey's blog...I'm sure she'll post some pictures at some point :)  Happy Birthday Henry (and Lindsey)  we love you both!!

Here's a picture of Hunter enjoying the toy he gave Henry for his birthday.

Saturday was party day, Sunday was productive day....we finished up MOST of our holiday decorating with the help of these sweet faces!  Kids really do make the holidays so magical! xoxo

At da club... house

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

It's a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please,
Won't you please,
Please won't you be my neighbor?

We live in the same neighborhood with 3 sets of our closest friends. It was honestly not planned….We just all happened to either fall in love with the neighborhood or found houses we loved there. When Hunter and I were house hunting last year we said we would move to the neighborhood where we found the house. Stars aligned and we just happened fall in love with a home in the same neighborhood as our friends.

Any who – it’s wonderful…we live on the 10th Hole right across the street from the club house and driving range. We are also in walking distance to the pool, gym, and central park complete with playground, pavilion, grills, soccer fields, basketball courts, and beach volleyball! The club house does kids eat free Tuesdays and $2 dollar drafts (best deal in town)! And Friday nights they have $12 dollar bottles of wine and $2 dollar drafts. It’s the perfect place for kiddos to run around too….we sit outside, enjoy the golf course view, and the Hunters can practice their short game on the practice green while we wait for our food. Hunter V is also particularly fond of rolling his cars down the big hills!

Throw meeting the neighbors into the mix and you have to drag me out of the place…I never want to leave  This past Friday was just that scenario. Hunter had a friend from College in town, we met up with neighbor Thorne’s, the kiddos played on the golf course, the vino flowed…and next thing you knew…kid’s/babies bedtime….wait what’s that?

Here’s some visuals to help you picture it better :)

Won't you be my neighbor?

Weekend Recap

How about them Hokies!! Hunter and I agree to agree that we both really like the new quarterback Michael Brewer. I watched his post game interview last night and for a 22 year old he really seems to be level headed and have his shiz together. The facial hair could go…but we won’t go there. I’m sure it doesn’t prevent the college girls from seriously digging him!

So Hunter was in Ohio at the Hokie game. His words when he got home on Sunday were “It’s fun to win.” He said there were no strangers amongst the Hokie fans on Saturday night after that game. Sounds like a good time to me! I’m sorry I missed it (or sorry I wasn’t even invited).

And so it goes…back home on the ranch, I was certainly not lonely thanks to some wonderful friends!! Friday night I put the boys down at The Thorne’s house and enjoyed “un-wine-ding” from the week with Lindsey and John.

Saturday the boys and I had a nice morning at home that involved some napping for James, some tri-cycle riding and baseball playing for Hunter.

After James woke up from his morning nap we headed to The Mitchell’s house for some lunch and play date. After lunch, both boys went down for a nap at their house and I was able to enjoy almost two whole hours of me time catching up with my girlfriend Nicola – her babes slept too and it was truly heaven!

After naps, we headed home to re-group (re-pack diaper bag) before we met back up with The Thorne’s and Mitchells at Birkdale for dinner. A little Bad Daddy’s burger bar, and TCBY to boot and mama was SPENT!! We were home and all in bed by 8:30pm!!

Being we were out and about all day Saturday, Sunday I did not want to leave the house at all! Hunter was home bright and early from Ohio (and tired) so while he and James took morning naps, little Hunter and I had some awesome play time together in his playroom. We read books, did flashcards, played memory, put together puzzles, built rainbows out of play-doh….I haven’t given him that kind of one-on-one attention in a long time and it felt good! We will def do it more often!

After lunch both boys went back down for naps and I ran some errands kid free. Pier-one, Home goods, and the grocery store in 1.5hrs….its amazing how quickly you can get stuff done without kids in tow!

And in the afternoon we did our best to soak up all that is left of summer by breaking out the slip n slide, and sitting on the back deck.

Then all too quickly 5:30pm hit. Dinner, bath, bed commenced and before we knew it, it was 9pm and Monday morning.

Back at it.
