Scenes from the weekend...

It was a very productive weekend in the Lunsford household but we started it out friday night eating outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. 

I totally remember doing this as a kid in the summer time. Squirting water gun water into my mouth. Hunter was doing it to James and they both thought it was hilarious. 

Can we say trouble ;)

So much fun!

Hunter and his dad worked really hard all weekend long.  Replacing exterior lighting, cleaning the exterior lights, cleaning all of our white columns and exterior windows sills, scrubbing the brick patios, and planting new shrubs where old ones had died.  

 I looove hydrangeas and excited to have some in the front of the house now.  Hoping the sun light is good to them and they should grow a bit bigger. 

 The new boxwoods in the front of the porch will eventually grow together and form one rectangular hedge.  And now its time for me to get my flower pots planted! Thinking of getting some new aqua colored ceramic ones this year....

The guys brought a tv out to the garage so they could watch the masters on and off while working.  Hunter V thought it was the coolest thing being able to eat lunch outside and watch a cartoon.  (don't mind all the "junk" ... we're preparing for a garage sale this Saturday... come on by!)

The men made sure to finish up their work just in time to watch the Masters sunday afternoon. We pulled the tv out to the back deck it was way to nice to go inside!

 And the "little boys" played legos

Big Daddy got in a some good tickle time before he had to leave...the boys just adore him

Annnnd...as if we hadn't accomplished enough, after Big Daddy left and the boys we're down we headed to the basement to rip up some carpet (full basement post coming soon)

Life isn't slowing down anytime soon! Garage sale, visiting grandparents, hiring contractors, jobs, babies, family moving down,  dr appointments, parent/teacher conferences, school pictures, car inspection, plant flower pots, and now I need to stop writing my to-do list on here and go write it in my planner.  bye bye for now...hope you all have a great week! xo

DIY: Magnolia Wreath

Magnolia trees are a dime a dozen around here in Charlotte. We don't have one in our yard...but our neighbors do ;) SHHHH, don't tell, but I snuck over there and borrowed (ok stole) some leaves off their three to make us an oh so pretty Magnolia Wreath.
Here's what I used...a wire wreath template and green floral wire both from Michaels.

and some leaves of course...

There are some turtorials online that use foam wreaths and I might try that next time in order to make the wreath fluffier looking but what I used did the trick too...

And just start outside in tieing leafs on the wire template. I must say this was more time consuming that i would have liked, a few hours all combined.

But I'd say the end product was well worth it! Jakey wanted to help but I wouldnt let him...so he gave me his best "puppy dog face" HEY! Write it down, record the date, I did a post that wasn't about the baby :) Merry Christmas!

DIY Roman Shades

Alright here’s a little DIY I did two weekends. I had ordered this chevron fabric from fabric.com and while playing around with using it as décor for a baby shower at my house I fell in LOVE with it as shades over our back door windows.

The yellow ones we currently have up there I ordered from potterybarn about 6 years ago so it was time for a change anyways.

After taking the original ones off I realized it would be super easy to just remove the yellow fabric from the white backing and replace it with the chevron fabric. All it would take is scissors, a staple gun, needle and thread.

The yellow fabric was wrapped around a square piece of wood at top and stapled to it. I first removed the yellow from the wood and from the white backing.


Next, I measured out the chevron fabric to be the same length and height as the yellow. I pinned the sides in and ironed them down to give the edges a clean finish. NO sew!

After that I layed the white backing over the chevron fabric and began reattaching them to the wood bar at the top. This is where the shade hangs from.

Last step was just to sew all the little white circles back onto the white and chevron fabric. These little guys are what the string goes through to allow the shade to roll up when pulled.

And wala!
This might seemed complicated but I promise it was not. It's simply taking apart something and then remembering step by step how to put it back together just with new fabric. I would encourage you before you go out and buy new cushions or shades just look to see if they can be recovered. 12 dollars in fabric was a heck of a lot cheaper than 200 dollars in new roman shades. I’ll give myself a pat on the back for this one….

Project Simplify Week 2: Our pantry

Our Pantry was OUT OF CONTROL. Things falling out on you, running out of shelf space for food, not even sure what food we had in there. AND with HL5 turning four months old I wanted to add a little basket into our pantry where all his food is kept.

In the before picture notice the top shelf is where I used to store my crystal stemware. And somewhere tucked towards the bottom is our china. The hubby said that was taking up entirely too much space and I had to agree with him.





So we moved those items and they are now being stored upstairs in our laundry room above our washer and dryer. Doesn't necessarily make the most sense but hey its where we could find space. Gaining the extra shelf allowed for us to add a shelf for more food which is what we really needed and also just give more organized space for our tuppeware and large appliances.



It doesn't look like a huge difference in the pictures but in person it is! Every time I used to open the pantry anxiety would come over me. Now I open it and feel organized and calm. Its amazing what a little rearranging and purging can do!

Sweater Vases

After seeing these sweater vases in the latest crate and barrel catalog I fell in love.


However after looking at them more closely I realized they aren't the real soft sweater material they are porcelain with just a sweater imprint. I started the search for real sweater vases and found my next project!!

In between trying to learn how to take care of and breastfeed a newborn hopefully I'll find time to make a few of these for our homes Christmas decor this year...aren't they pretty!?
