9 Months!

Had you lost hope on us and the blog?  Sorry for the hiatus.  Weekend travels and this new job of mine left no spare time for blogging.  BUT, we're back with a 9 month post and I'm looking forward to getting back into blogging in general.  I do enjoy sharing more than cute pictures of Hunter with you, home decor, crafts, party planning, what i wores.....I'm really looking forward to one last beach trip in September and then hunkering down for fall/winter.  Summers are always sooooooooooooooo busy!  Well without further ado...he's that adorable son of ours growing up WAY to fast.

9 Months!
8 to 9 Months flew!! Not a ton has changed but your keeping us busy. You have the most unmanageable wild and crazy hair. Everyone comments on it and its practically your trademark. I swear we try to brush it but it just ends up sticking back up once it dries. Grami says its because you have new hair underneath growing causing the long hair on top to stick up. I agree…and regardless your cute!! xo

Size: 22 Pounds (75th percentile), 30 Inches long (98th percentile). Big daddy and I were laughing about the fact that one you and him are both going to be looking down on daddy. Daddy doesn’t find it too funny though J 12 months clothes and sleepers are tight but you can swing them. 18 month clothes fit you better. I foresee you fitting in size 18-24 months this fall but by winter I’m sure you’ll be in 2T. Mommy will be buying 2T if I want you to wear something the entire winter.

Development: Your still crawling fast and pulling up on everything! You’ll take a few steps with a push toy but haven’t found the courage to try anything by yourself yet. You will let go of what your holding on to and stand unsupported for a few seconds. Ba ba, da da, ahhhhhhhhhh is pretty much your vocabulary. Nana taught you to cup your mouth back and forth to make Indian noises and that keeps you occupied in the car most days J Your great at feeding yourself now, you can pick up anything with your hands, hold a bottle well, drink out of sippys and straws!! Mommy will even put your fruit on a baby fork and hand you the fork to feed yourself with. You love it, but don’t understand that you have to give the fork back to me so I can put more food on it! Oh and chompers…you have 6 chompers still. 4 on top, 2 on the bottom.

Personality: Your very fun and very loving. You’ll sit back and observe other people a lot. In the grocery store, on airplanes, and even other kids at daycare. You’re so intrigued by what others are doing. Often times we have to apologize to other people because you are STARING them down. Haha. I think it’s a great quality and I’m sure your little brain is working hard as your observe. You also like to be in the middle of the action. You love to be busy and around other kids. You’re a great traveler and very go with the flow. You’ll sleep and eat anywhere. You’re not very patient though and def spoiled in the sense that you expect us to come to you and tend to you. If your just a few feet away wanting to be picked up, instead of crawling to me you will sit on the floor with your arms up crying big crocodile tears. It’s actually quite sad and pitiful. You also get frustrated very easily. If you can’t reach something you want instead of trying for a while and then moving on to something else, you try for a SECOND and then get very upset and start crying. Of course…we are always there to pick you up for help you get what you want. You ALWAYS win!! And I’m okay with that, for now. Overall, if we keep you well rested and fed you’re a happy boy!

Eating: We started meats this month. Sweet Potatoes pureed with chicken, and Chicken pureed with corn peas and white potatoes. So far you seem to like it. Your also eating yogurt and cheese. I’m starting to be a bit more relaxed with food and allowing you to at least try most things. You love fruit still and all things orange (carrots/sweet potatoes). Green beans, peas you could live without and unlike your mommy you don’t love cheese so far either. Avocado you will eat depending on you mood. Lately you have been a pickier eater than I would like, crying and swatting at your mouth when we try to give you something you don’t like. Hopefully it’s just another phase…
Your waking up at 6:30am these days (WAY better than the 5am it was)
6:30am – wake to nurse and then get ready for school
8:45/9 – breakfast. Oatmeal and a fruit
10am – nap
11:30 – bottle of milk
12:30 – lunch. a fruit and a veggie
1:30pm - nap
3pm – bottle of milk and snack. Mum mum or puffs or yogurt melts
6pm – dinner. , veggie, and fruit and a meat
7pm – Bath, book, bottle, bed.
Sleeping: I think we are overcoming the 5am wake up calls. Its been a while since we’ve seen that. 6:30 is the norm 7/7:30 on good days. You sleep 7:30 to 6:30 unawakened on most nights. If you do happen to wake up we just give you a paci and your fast asleep again.
Likes: You just LOVE crawling around, up and down, and playing with toys. Balls, cars, airplanes are your favorite. You love anything that you can bang and make noise on too. You have drums and a piano that are lots of fun to bang. You also love your play table, never fails you crawl straight to that first, pull yourself up on it and start making noise. Your favorite books are touch and feel animals and American babies. Your favorite song is still “if your happy and you know it”, and of course Mickey Mouse is a sure thing when it comes to putting a smile on your face. Chica Chica boom boom keeps you entertained in the car. And if all else fails….your paci has NEVER let you down. You are a paci lover!

Dislikes: I also think we have overcome the water on the head thing! You don’t cry anymore you just hold your breath, close your eyes and make a disapproving scream. But you put up with it!

8 Months!

8 Months! Right after you turned 7 months you began crawling. You started out snail slow and now you are lightning fast. Saying mom and dad need to get on the baby proofing is an understatement! 2dfa2812 Size: I’m not positive of your height and weight since you haven’t been to the dr’s in a while. Your 9 month well checkup is next month. My guess would be 22 pounds and 30 inches long (if not longer). You’re in size 4 diaper, 12 month sleepers, and size 3 shoe. Your 6-12 month clothes are getting tight so from now on we’ll only buy 18th months clothes. This fall/winter I’m sure you’ll be in 18-24 months and pushing 2T by the end of winter. 5f1c90b1 Development: Your learning so much every day!! Your hand eye motor skills have improved greatly. When we first started giving you puffs or cheerios one out of every ten you picked up would end up in your mouth. Now you pick up ten at a time and they ALL end up in your mouth  ok, not 10 really but your great at feeding yourself now. Your also getting really good at using your sippy now. About this crawling your everywhere and pulling up on everything!! Jakes water and food bowl being your favorite thing to pull up on. Another favorite is to climb up and down up and down from the fireplace stoop. Your starting to learn how to give kisses and wave. With your hand backwards you’ll open and close our hand….it’s really cute. You def know who mommy, daddy and Jake are. At dinner time we can ask you to give Jake a puff and you’ll grab a puff off your tray and hold it out for him. Most times you snatch it back though before he can eat it because you want it  Teeth, you have 6 teeth! 2 on the bottom, and four on top. You’ve handled them like a champ with a little bit of night time waking. 4df87849 596bb3d8 Personality: Some words we use often to describe you….sweet, crazy, monster, daredevil, allll boy! Your very easy and happy unless you’re tired. You wake up from naps, eat, and then play HARD. 5fbaef03 Up, down, all around the living room from toy to toy until you melt down because u can’t go any longer. We’ll then put you in your crib for a nap and the cycle begins again  We have realized you’re a little daredevil too. You’ll crawl full speed for the edge of our bed and dive off! 6f9352ad be559bbf Daddy and I put pillows on the floor one day and with assistance let you do it to see what would happen. Um, big mistake because you LOVED it. now you think it’s fun and a came to dive off of furniture onto the ground but you don’t realize it’s not always going to be a soft landing. c45dad97 We have to watch you like a hawk and try to keep all four grubby paws of yours on the ground! You’re really so much fun though, you laugh a lot, and know what you want (and most of the time get it ) e946ba0b Eating: So far the fruits you have tried are…apples, pears, bananas, prunes, mango, pumpkin and avocado, blueberries, peaches, nectarines, and apricots. The veggies you have had are sweet potatoes, yellow squash, peas, potatoes, green beans and carrots, zucchini. And we just introduced whole milk cottage cheese and basmati rice. I would say you liked it. Not loved, you need to get used to them. Your favorite fruit by far is apples or pears, your favorite veggies are carrots or sweet potatoes. YOU HATE peas. Although we have figured out that if we mix your peas and your carrots you love it! So far mom has pureed all of your food, which I give credit to this amazing machine and this fabulous baby food cookbook. Despite my fabulous cooking Puffs, mum mums, and cheerios are the key to your heart. This month we are going to venture into yogurt. Your schedule looks like this…
5/6am – wake to nurse and then back to bed 7/8ish – up for the day 8:45 – breakfast. Oatmeal and a fruit 10am – nap 11:30 – bottle of milk 12:30 – lunch. a fruit and a veggie 1:30pm - nap 3pm – bottle of milk and snack. Mum mum or puffs or yogurt melts 6pm – dinner. A grain, veggie, and fruit. 7pm – Bath, book, bottle, bed.
Sleeping: You have good nights and bad. Some nights you’ll sleep through others you’ll wake up crying a couple times. Teeth, hot/cold, dreaming, pee’d through your diaper…who knows! It’s all just a stage and overall you’re a good sleeper. I am starting to think about the fact that you’re not going to be able to wake up and nurse at 5am for much longer little man. We’re going to have to figure out a way to bypass that feeding and get you to sleep straight through til 7am where we’ll give you a bottle of milk when you wake up.
Likes: some of your favorite toys are…balls, xylophone, your play table you can stand up on, and your drums. You love making loud noises beating things together and shaking rattles. You still like music at a lot too. You love to be played with, tickled, wrestle with daddy and climb all over Jake. Your obsessed with Jake and Jakes ball. You’ll steal his ball and then taunting him with it….offering it out to him and then pulling it back. Pour Jakey, he takes it like a champ and one day he knows you’re going to learn how to throw that ball. You love the pool, being on big daddy’s boat, and playing in (eating) sand. Really nothing scares you.
8dd279bf 067a29c5 f0071538 cf503cff 4a582fb5 899d3325 67b1ca01
Dislikes: Your getting better at this but water on your head is not your favorite thing. And your still fussy at times when getting ready for bed. That, Peas, and being tired are the only things I can think of that make you cry. Haha.
e6c1b45e afa6ffc3 92f73101 And in case you missed this hilariousness...baby decided to give daddy a shower before daddy gave him a bath :) uh oh! fafe330e

A baby is baptised

The day after the little man baby shower for my good friend Kristin we baptized baby Hunter. It was a busy weekend. We kept the baptism simple, sharing it only with family and enjoying a brunch at a nearby restaurant. It was a special day, one I'll never forget.
