Welcome to my world

Thought you all would enjoy this little excerpt out of my day.

In ritual, I came in this morning and browsed a few blogs with my morning coffee. I came across these rooms on House of Turquoise. I fell especially in love with this room and thought it is set up almost the same way as our living room with the windows on each side of the fireplace.

So, I did a quick paint collage and compared our living room with the Armonia Decor living room.

Yep, and now I officially HATE our living room. It looks so drab :( I email my dilemma to my friend, whom you all know by now, a designer, stylist, hair and makeup artist super talented all around Lindsey Regan Thorne. Like any GREAT friend she starts sending me pillows, wallpapers, and lots of simple ideas on how I can brighten up our room. I turn down the wallpaper idea just because I know my husband will NOT go for it, but I'm digging her suggestion of painting the room white (to brighten it up), adding crown molding, introducing blues with the greens and yellows and some new artwork. Keeping in mind Hunter and I already agreed we are putting hard woods in this room in a couple weeks, I email Hunter the above side by side picture and let him know of my makeover ideas. Here's his response. (btw, we talk via this messenger thing at work, kinda convenient) :)

22:19:43 HUNTER LUNSFORD : I like my living room the way it is. Will do hardwoods, and i'll put up crown molding for you, but that be it.
22:44:17 KRISTEN LUNSFORD : boooooooooo
22:44:21 KRISTEN LUNSFORD : paint white paint
22:44:28 KRISTEN LUNSFORD : ppppppwweaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase

22:44:45 HUNTER LUNSFORD : No.

I got 2 out of the like 5 things I wanted to do. Is that a win?

Plan B: Paint the room when Hunter is at a bachelor party the third weekend in March. He's a boy....he'll never realize its been done!

Recent Purchases

Sometimes, just moving the items to the cart and leaving them there fights the urge to buy and does the trick. Not lately. I feel like I've clicked the "proceed to checkout" button alot lately! But of course, all with good reason. :) First off its V-day soon and I had to buy him some valentines days happies (in the words of my friend Brandy) :)
Long story long...
I would take my slippers off in the living room, next thing I knew Hunter would be wearing them and would not give them back. He enjoyed thier coziness. However everytime I was at a store I would ask him if he wanted me to pick him up some slippers and he would insist "NO". Then we go to my brothers house, Joe is wearing slippers. Hunter says "I want slippers" UGH, MEN! :) So finally for V-day I am buying him slippers. My little southern boy loves a monogram so a H they will be adorned with! I will give him some heart shaped candy along with the slippers and cheese it up with the ole saying of he's my heart and sole. CHEESY and I LOVE IT! I think Vday as a whole is sorta cheesy. Also, while browsing the red envelope site where I found the slippers I saw sexy jenga! Hunter and I went back and forth while xmas shopping on whether to buy Jenga for us to play on those quiet friday and saturday nights at home. We eventually decided against it but had it been s*xy Jenga I can guarentee we would have chose otherwise. Slippers and Jenga for my hubby for V-day. CHECK! :)

Secondly, I have a bridal shower to attend this saturday, a BIG night out with the girls Saturday night, and in March a bachelorette party in Miami along with Hunter's 30th birthday party. Although, I'm not going to go crazy buying new things for these events I did feel like I needed a few staples like a pair of nude wedges, some basic tanks, and a cute new top to throw on in effort to beat the last little bit of winter blues. oh, and yeah, what type of "wanna-be" southern belle would I be if I passed up this adorable pink monogrammed jute tote bag. (I got the little one dark pink one monogramed in creme :))

Now, back to Hunter's 30th birthday! The boy loves him some Hooters. Not the female body part (he's actually a butt guy) but the restaurant. For the wings. DUH! Daytona style to be specific. :) So, a 30th birthday party at Hooters he gets!! A little known fact about my husband is he's a rocker. Not a rockstar rocker, a rocking chair rocker. HE LOVES to rock. We have this rocking chair in our living room that he rocks in all night.

His Mom rocked and rocked and rocked him as a baby until her bum was numb! Even in his chair at work you will find him in a rocking motion. If there is a rocker near by he is in it. With that said, while I was googling for 30th birthday party stuff I came across the banner below and angels started singing! HOW PERFECT! I will do an old man rocking chair theme! haha! I ordered the Banner in orange and white (Hooters colors) and at the bottom in stead of sit down and relax had printed..."30 yrs of Rocking" Rock on! I'm going to bring in a white rocking chair into the restaurant, we'll work the orange and white theme with tons of ballons. I'm also thinking about ordering some little doll house rocking chairs to place on the tables with some floating candles.

So, with that said some more recent purchases have been...Hunter's 30th birthday invites and his bday banner.

Well I've got some ordering to do.........ta-ta!

Dinner tonight

Big changes over here in wanna-be blogland, thanks to Lindsey Regan Thorne!! I've been getting frustrated with the fact that when I take my images and turn them into a collage it is greatly reducing the quality. By the time I resize, upload to photobucket yada yada and hit publish the finished product looks fuzzy and pixelated. It's been driving me nuts because I don't have a big ole fancy camera to have my images looking like shizzzzz! Well it has been discovered that perhaps microsoft paint just isn't going to cut it. A lovely little lunch and learn session on Photoshop Elements with Lindsey and this is what her greatness created! Cheers to better images, collages, and cheetos!

BTW - this really was Hunter and I's dinner last night feel free to make it your Dinner tonight :)

His & Hers

Recently Hunter and I went from sharing our master bathroom to me moving and taking over the guest bath. I'm not sure what sparked the change, possibly me feeling unorganized and claustrophobic will all of our combined toiletries literally shoved in our one small master. BEST change YET! I now have my own little getting pretty, girly shrine :) And when Hunter leaves water all over the sink after he shaves...well, I DON'T CARE cause its not my bathroom :) Now if I can just convince him that we each clean our individual baths. Yeah, FAT chance!

Friday Night Fish Fry & Last Nights Dinner & What I Wore

One of things this Wanna-be Southern Belle actually misses about the North and wishes the South had more of, is Friday night fish frys. Growing up my family used to always go out to different taverns, inn, or pubs on Friday nights to get a crunchy, juicy, overlapping your plate fish fry! I was craving just that this past Friday night so Hunter and I attempted to recreate it at home.
The fish and Sundays flank stank defrosting

Hunter wanted to use a fry basket and we don't have one...so he built one :) We didn't even end up using it but the boy had fun building anyways I'm sure!

We can't fry anything with out slices up some onions and throwing them in the oil at the end...its just too good and too easy!

Friday night fish fry!
And this was Last Nights Dinner...flanks steak with a mushroom sauce, baby bokchoy, and cauliflower.
Other than eating we also got to see this handsome fellow this weekend!

We hung out with our dear friends the Marellis and Thornes on Saturday and Sunday enjoyed the 70 degree Carolina blue skies while running errands. We made a Micheal's trip for some craft projects I'm wanting to do, and also picked up a full length mirror so I can start taking pictures and documenting what I wear. Of course just like with our dinners if any of you gain knowledge or outfit ideas that's wonderful and a total added bonus! But there are so many times that I love a particular outfit I've worn and I never end up wearing it again because I've forgotten what I put together! So just as this little blog does for our dinners it will now track my outfits and for me it will be great reference and who knows...might even be funny to look back in 2yrs and say "I can't believe I wore that" :)
Hunter hasn't put up the full length mirror yet so excuse the picture...but to start it out here's what I wore on Saturday!

Sweatshirt J-Crew, Trouser jeans David Kahn, pearls with sweatshirt & jeans = Wanna-BE! :)
