A birthday party at Belcher Field

Hunter V had his first birthday party to attend this past weekend. His friend Owen turned two with a baseball themed bash. Our friends the Belchers did an AMAZing job with the theme so I wanted to share pictures from it in case anyone out there needs a little baseball party inspiration. We personally might have a recycle this theme in a few years, its was THAT cute :) Enjoy!

i used to

~Wear cuter outfits to work (instead of putting on whatever is thoughtless, quick and fits)
~Mail out thank you cards the day we got a gift (now it takes me weeks to get them out)
~Wash my hair more than twice a week (nuff said)
~Wear more eyeshadow colors than one
~Have a wish list in my head of stuff I want (now its all stuff I want for the baby and don’t have time to even know whats in style these days)
~Buy birthday, shower and wedding gifts WEEKS ahead of time. (now I’m running out to get them on the day of the party)
~( Hunter used to) Go to the grocery store on a daily basis to get stuff we need for dinner. (Now we have to make a list on Sundays and get EVERYTHING we need for meals for the week or else we won’t have time to cook and eat)
~Wake up at 8am to get to work by 9am. (now I wake up at 6am to get to work by 9am)
~Stop at starbucks everyday to get coffee on my way into work (now I have an infant with me in the car that I don’t feel like lugging into the coffee shop so I have to drink the break room coffee)
~Look forward to the weekends to go out and have fun (now I look forward to them to sleep!)

So they say having a baby changes everything. Yep they were right.

I didn’t understand what a busy and full life was until I became a working mom. What day is it, where am I and how did I get here are often thoughts that pop into my head. I understand why this mom thing is like a “club” you can’t join until you have a kid because I get it that despite everything that has changed in our/my life, I wouldn’t change a thing back to the way it was.

I LOVE this little nugget!!

Mountain pictures

Long gone are the days of doing puzzles on our mountain house weekends. The days instead were spent feeding, changing, and playing with the youngins. Still fun to get together with friends and family and do these things under the same roof for a few days as oppose to at home with our same ole routine. And at night, when all the children were nestled snug in their beds, the wine was uncorked, and some great dinners along with laughs were exchanged. Overall a weekend filled with big fun and PERFECT weather. Sunny enough for a hike on saturday, and enough SNOW on sunday to take the kids sledding! Thanks Carter and Chad for letting us crash a weekend with your friends. (now our friends:)). Enjoy the pictures!

An Easter basket battle

Why does everything have to be a fight? Why don't men or fathers get it? Whoa, starting this blog post out right, no sugar coating it. Are you curious to keep reading?

It's Hunter V's first Easter coming up which means he needs an Easter basket. The unfrugal part of me wants to just hop (no pun intended) online to potterybarn kids and buy one of their adorable baskets with monogrammed liners. All said and done (basket, liner and monogramming) they are over 50 dollars.

I knew Hunter IV would not approve of spending this much on a basket so onto etsy I went. I see baskets like this

all adorable, all I would want for our baby Hunter but still over 40 dollars each. I scroll right past them and set my eyes only on baskets 30 dollars and cheaper. Picking out these two baskets

I send them off to Hunter IV for his opinion, thinking I've done such a good job not overspending on a Easter basket yet still managing to get Hunter V something nice considering I want this to be his basket forever.

I think it’s cute but unnecessary. It’s $25 we don’t need to spend just so it looks cute in a picture. Blog about it if you really like them.

That’s funny because 25 dollars is the cheapest I can find. Most are 40 and up! Keep in mind this is his easter basket for the rest of his life. No just for one year. It will be used year after year. Im not getting a 2 dollar plastic one from cvs. I don’t think 25 is bad!
And im not spending so it looks cute in a picture, Hunter. Im spending so our son has a basket on easter and next year will actually use it to collect eggs in. Have a heart.

Get the bigger one then. Filling easter backets is easy. It doesn’ have to be all candy you know.

"unecessary"? Since when is having a cute Easter basket unecessary?? "Blog about them if you really like them." UGH. seriously. YOU WISH blogging would cure my need to buy. Doesn't work that way HUBBY. Okay...I'll blog about how you ticked me off with this convo. grrrr. 25 dollars equals a dollar a year AND heck he can use it on his son too considering he'll probably be named Hunter. hehe.
He ended up coming around but sometimes I just wish I didn't have to ALWAYS explain the need for something. Can't they just trust?
